Esther

The Book of Esther is a historical narrative set in Persia, telling the story of a Jewish woman named Esther who becomes queen and bravely saves her people from extermination. When the wicked official Haman plots to destroy the Jews, Esther, with the guidance of her cousin Mordecai, risks her life by approaching King Xerxes to plead for their survival. Her courage leads to the downfall of Haman and the deliverance of the Jewish people. The book highlights God’s providence, even though His name is never mentioned, and it establishes the Jewish festival of Purim to commemorate this victory.
